Mark Bittman Lecture 4-18-11 : Mark Bittman, food journalist for the New York Times, and author of "Food Matters, a Guide to Conscious Eating," presented a talk at Sleeping Lady in Leavenworth Washington on April 18th. In his talk Mark drew the vital links between our diet, our health, and climate change. Proceeds of the event will fund the Community Cupboard Food Bank program to provide families in need with "Veggie Vouchers" redeemable for fresh fruits, and vegetables at the Leaveneworth Community Farmer's Market.

Father Greg Boyle : For thousands of at-risk youth with few optionns, Father Greg's Homeboy Industries in Los Angeles California creates jobs and hope for a better life. It's success shows that intervention and re-entry programs offering economic self-sufficiencey are necessary in breatking the cycle of gang violence. Father Boyle spoke at the Sleeping Lady Chapel Theater on February 19th, through the support of the Sleeping Lady Foundation.
